This is the recipe I've been using (and tinkering with) for 10 years for myself, my family, and friends. We use it on lips, wind-chapped cheeks, cuticles, dry or cracked skin anywhere, and even on diaper rashes when my kids were babies! These lotion bars have the same ingredients as the hand salve, but in different quantities so they are firmer and can be held in bar form at room temperature. The heat from your hand softens the bar and a small amount is transferred to your skin, leaving a thin moisturizing layer.
I have pretty sensitive skin and have found that even shea and cocoa butters make me break out. All the ingredients I use in these bars are safe to use anywhere on your body and gentle enough for babies. I also don't use pore-clogging ingredients because I want to be comfortable putting this on my face as well.
I make these lotion bars using organic beeswax, almond oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and sweet orange essential oil. The combination of essential oil and beeswax make a really pleasant orange honey scent.
- Almond oil - I steep almond oil for several weeks in calendula flower petals before using it in bars and salves. Calendula is a medicinal plant with anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, diaper rash, or general skin irritations.
- Jojoba oil
- Vitamin E oil
- Sweet Orange essential oil
With such a short ingredient list, I often like to play with quantities to change the consistency. I keep a mason jar of a soft batch in my bathroom for body lotion. Hard lotion bars like these are great sitting next to a sink for often-washed chapped hands. Or carry them with you; the tins are small enough to stash in a bag or pouch. They make great gifts too!
If you're in a warmer climate and the lotion bar happens to soften, just put the tin in the fridge for a few minutes until it's solid again. Beeswax has a melting point of 145°F so it will take a lot of heat to make these bars melt.
Each lotion bar weighs 0.3 oz. They come in a 1 oz reusable tin with a screw top lid. This is the perfect size to fit in your purse or pocket.
They are ready to ship!
If you're interested in more than the quantity listed in the shop please send me a message. I don't keep a large number of the balms/lotions in stock because I prefer to make small batches more frequently to keep them fresh. But I usually have the supplies on hand to accommodate a larger order!
All payments are expected at the time of purchase.

Most of my sewing has to wait until evening after a full day of schooling and playing with kids so it's difficult to do custom orders. I hope that as my kids get older, and I get more sleep, I can resume accepting custom orders!

I use this for not only my hands but also as pomade for my hair! Love it! Scent is mild which is great because I’m extremely sensitive to smells.

I love it and it smells great!! I just can’t use it on my face like I had planned to because it makes my face too oily.
