Beeswax Hand Salve

This is the recipe I've been using (and tinkering with) for 10 years for myself, my family, and friends. We use it on lips, wind-chapped cheeks, cuticles, dry or cracked skin anywhere, and even on diaper rashes when my kids were babies! This recipe is a bit softer than the lotion bars - they have the same ingredient list only different quantities, so they're melted and poured into tins to solidify.

I have pretty sensitive skin and have found that even shea and cocoa butters make me break out. All the ingredients I use in these salves are safe to use anywhere on your body and gentle enough for babies. I also don't use pore-clogging ingredients because I want to be comfortable putting this on my face as well.

I make the salve using organic beeswax, almond oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, and sweet orange essential oil. The combination of essential oil and beeswax make a really pleasant orange honey scent.

- Beeswax
- Almond oil - I steep almond oil for several weeks in calendula flower petals before using it in bars and salves. Calendula is a medicinal plant with anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, diaper rash, or general skin irritations.
- Jojoba oil
- Vitamin E oil
- Sweet Orange essential oil

With such a short ingredient list, I often like to play with quantities to change the consistency. I keep a mason jar of a soft batch in my bathroom for body lotion. These tins are a great size to carry with you, they're small enough to stash in a bag or pouch. They make great gifts too!

If you're in a warmer climate and the salve happens to soften, just put the tin in the fridge for a few minutes until it's solid again. Beeswax has a melting point of 145°F so it will take a lot of heat to make these melt.

Each container of hand salve weighs 1 oz, and they come in a 1 oz reusable tin with a screw top lid.

These are ready to ship!

If you're interested in more than the quantity listed in the shop please send me a message. I don't keep a large number of the balms/lotions in stock because I prefer to make small batches more frequently to keep them fresh. But I usually have the supplies on hand to accommodate a larger order!

All payments are expected at the time of purchase.

Most of my sewing has to wait until evening after a full day of schooling and playing with kids so it's difficult to do custom orders. I hope that as my kids get older, and I get more sleep, I can resume accepting custom orders!

What a lovely hand salve! The smell is heavenly, like a dream, and it has just the right melting point for my hands. I’ve been using it while at the pool with my kids because I hate that icky chlorine dryness. But I use it on the daily as well.

Great seller, highly recommend!!! The hand salve is really nice!

Great product! I typically like very lightly scented products and this is perfect with a very subtle beeswax/orange scent. I love how moisturing and protective this balm is. It softens my dry and cracking hands/fingers/cuticles so that my knitting doesn't snag on my fingers. If my lip balm isn't near-by, I have used the hand balm and it does an excellent job.
